As the National Day holiday (October 1-7) is approaching, Hainan is launching over 70 amazing activities covering culture, tourism, exhibitions, sports, and sales for citizens and visitors to enjoy the “Golden Week”.
Culture and Arts
The first Haikou Urban Arts Week runs from October 1st to the 10th and brings music, calligraphy, paintings and more to Haikou's characteristic shopping streets and tourist areas. With so many fun arts events, there's sure to be something for everyone.

During Arts Week, musical ensembles from the China National Symphony Orchestra and China National Traditional Orchestra will be performing in Haikou. Well-known conductors such as Jing Huan and Liu Sha will take the stage at the opening and closing ceremonies, and colorful performances will happen at the Hainan Center for the Performing Arts and Wormhole Library lawn.
Using art to explore the beauty of nature, the 2024 Sanya West Island Ecological Arts Festival runs from September 29 to October 8.
In Changjiang, the Qizi Bay Earth Arts Festival combines the best of the local natural environment with the best of the local cultural environment.
Exhibitions
The “Deep Blue Marvels” special exhibition with treasures taken from Poseidon's realm will open at the China (Hainan) Museum of the South China Sea in Qionghai on September 27.
Featuring 408 Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644) relics from the No. 1 and No. 2 shipwrecks on the northwest continental slope of the South China Sea, this exploration of deep sea archeology is not to be missed.

On September 29, the Hainan Archives Center will have a themed exhibition on the development of Hainan's cities over the years.
Also during the holiday, Hainan Provincial Museum will be displaying calligraphic treasures by famous masters such as Wang Yingdou and Zhang Yuesong; Haikou Convention Workshop will be displaying folk art, and the Provincial Historical Records Museum will be having a “Happy Hainan” themed exhibition that allows visitors to have an immersive experience in the development of the Free Trade Port.
Sports
The 2024 Hainan Open European Challenge Tour begins on October 7 in Sanya. Inviting golf professionals from more than 20 countries, this is a must watch for golf lovers.
The world-renowned top obstacle race - Spartan Race will be held in Haikou Holiday Beachside Resort on October 2. Attracting 4,500 contestants from all over the world, this is the first time there's been a night time Spartan Race.
During the National Day holiday, local events such as the "Haikou Cup" Basketball League Finals, the "Haikou Cup" Sailing Race, the Danzhou "Village BA" Basketball League, the Qiongzhong "Rainforest Crossing" Cross-Country Series, the Qiongzhong Mountain Bike National Invitational Championships, and the Sanya National Fitness Youth Tennis Open will also be held.
Sales
Qionghai City is issuing special tourism consumption vouchers during the National Day holiday, covering hotel accommodation and scenic spots.
Danzhou will carry out special cultural and tourism activities such as road shows, markets, study tours, holiday sports parties, and camping trips.
Also, as part of expanding the supply of high-quality cultural and tourism products during the National Day holiday, Baoting will have hot spring themed activities, Lin’gao will have a food culture festival, and Wenchang will have a holiday shopping carnival.
